2. reserve your seat

Search among the departures offered and reserve your seat at a cost of $5. As soon as you make a reservation, you'll know the driver's identity, the model and color of their car, and details about the meeting place. The driver will also have access to your Kangaride profile.

The payment for the driver can be made directly online before departing or it can be made in cash in the car, depending on the driver's preference. If payment is made by cash, you should make sure that you have the exact change. Cancellation policy.

tips for drivers

As a driver, you need to make sure your passengers are comfortable and treat them like guests. Be attentive and drive safely. The following tips will help you to be an ideal driver!

share savings

Transporting passengers should be incidental to a driver's trip, otherwise it's no longer ridesharing, but commercial passenger transport. In other words, we don't rideshare to make money, but to reduce expenses, provide a service and, as an added bonus, meet new people.

safety

Using a phone while driving is prohibited across Canada. Keep both hands on the wheel and, if you have to make a call on the road, use hands-free equipment. You are responsible for the safety of your passengers. Please respect road signs and speed limits at all times.

practical meeting places

We strongly recommend that you set up your meeting points close to a place well-served by public transit. In general, passengers will not have their own vehicular transportation, and it can be complicated for them to reach you at a meeting place far from the city centre. This should also be kept in mind for the stops on your journey.

two per bench

We limit the number of passengers in the rear seat to two (2). It's easier to talk to each other when you can breathe!

a welcoming place

Make sure you welcome your passengers in the best conditions. It's much more pleasant to sit in a clean and tidy vehicle. If you have pets, do a little cleaning before you travel; one of your passengers could be allergic to animal hair!

transparency = trust

Think of your Kangaride profile as your business card. It lets other members get to know you a bit before traveling with you, and a complete profile is both nice and convivial for the rest of the community. It can also help you to find things in common and topics for discussion on the road more easily.

enjoy the trip!

Ridesharing is a great opportunity to meet new people, talk, and have fun, so don't miss out!

Remember that everyone gets tired, quiet, or may just prefer to finish reading their book on their own. Nevertheless, a little effort is always appreciated to break the ice, at least at the beginning of the trip.

If you ever feel uncomfortable, don't hesitate to report it. When people are well intentioned, all that is needed is some good communication for everything to be fine.

tips for passengers

The recipe for a successful rideshare is simple: punctuality, respect, and friendliness. To make sure everyone has a good time, it's important to respect a few basic rules:

be prepared

Plan your route to the meeting point, especially if you're not familiar with the city. Arrive 5 minutes early to find your driver. If the driver has requested payment in cash, make sure you have exact change; the driver should not be expected to have change.

your suitcase in the trunk

If you are travelling with large bags, make sure to book a ride that will accept them. Letting the driver know will prevent you from having to carry them on your lap for 3 hours because there wasn’t any space left in the trunk.

respect the space

Leave the vehicle as clean as you found it. If you have any garbage, kindly take it with you. What if you get a bit hungry? First ask your driver if you can eat on board; there may be a stop for lunch.

my account is mine

No one else is allowed to use your Kangaride account, unless a friend is travelling with you.

keep phone use to a minimum

A brief call to let your friend know that you're on your way is fine. But a 30-minute discussion of your weekend exploits will not likely be of interest to other passengers. The car is a confined space: don't spoil the atmosphere with your cell phone.
